The Resort at Isla Palenque in Panama's Gulf of Chiriqui is taking an open-air approach to its residential and hospitality accommodations, including a boutique hotel comprising semi-detached bungalows. The walls of each bungalow will be capable of fading away. Decks stretch out over bluffs to provide uninterrupted ocean views. In lieu of hallways, guests will walk wood and stone pathways through tropical gardens and over gently sloped bridges to reach their room.

Developed by Amble Resorts, the hotel will open in 2012 under the project's first phase, which will also include a lounge, bar, multiple restaurants, spa, function rooms, activity and discovery centers, boutique gift shop, observation tower, and large infinity pool. Later phases will introduce a hotel expansion and additional amenities. In addition, the Resort at Isla Palenque preserves 95 percent of the island as protect natural space.
