Wyndham Worldwide Campus Awarded Gold LEED Certification

Oct 25, 2013

Wyndham Worldwide has received gold certification from the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED program for its newest building on the company’s corporate headquarters campus in Parsippany, New Jersey.

The campus has previously received two silver-level LEED designations, making it the first and only company in New Jersey to hold LEED Certifications in both commercial interiors and existing building operations and maintenance.

“A tremendous amount of thoughtful planning goes into the design, construction, and operation of our buildings,” says Frank Campana, senior vice president, corporate real estate and facilities, Wyndham Worldwide. “The upfront investment and commitment to efficiency and environmental sustainability throughout the project not only provides clear benefits to the environment, but also for our stakeholders.”

Wyndham Worldwide achieved gold certification for the newest building on its campus through efforts like reducing water use by nearly 38 percent—achieved through the installation of water-efficient fixtures and faucets. Landscaping and irrigation systems were also designed to reduce potable water consumption for irrigation by nearly 85 percent. Other initiatives include providing a transit bus stop for associates to get to and from the local train station and campus, and building with regionally-sourced materials and products manufactured within 500 miles of the project site.

Throughout the entire design and construction phase, Wyndham Worldwide incorporated specific strategies and features that resulted in 16 percent in energy savings from lighting, 18 percent in savings from the HVAC system, and 74 percent in savings from the use of Energy Star equipment and appliances. These savings represent a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions of 1,667 tons.
