Set among the high-end shops and residences of one of Florida's most luxurious communities, the Regent Bal Harbour is the first major hotel to open in Bal Harbour Village in almost a half-century. The property houses a two-story lobby designed with Jatoba columns, leather walls, and marble flooring, and 124 guestrooms including 63 suites.
Guestrooms have flashes of Asian design with subtle colors, bamboo walls, and mahogany parquet flooring, while bathrooms feature floor-to-ceiling windows and freestanding bathtubs. Each guestroom not only has ocean views, but their own semi-private or private elevators. Built by Nichols, Brosch, Wurst, Wolfe & Associates in Coral Gables, Florida, and designed by Atlanta-based Culpepper, McAuliffe and Meaders, Inc. (CMMI), the hotel is home to a privately commissioned art collection put together by consultant Joan Warren-Grady. Another special feature: North America's first Guerlain Spa (No. 2 is set to open at the Waldorf=Astoria this spring), where guests can enjoy 15 treatment rooms, a limestone water wall, and foot therapy lounge.
Next up in Bal Harbour: the St. Regis Resort & Residences, designed by Yabu Pushelberg, set to open in 2010. The three all-glass towers will feature a 15,000-square-foot Remede Spa, 268 residences, 36 hotel suites, 183 guestrooms, and 24 St. Regis Residence Club units.
