IHG has introduced a prototype for its newest sustainable project, the Innovation Hotel. The prototype would feature a multitude of ultra-green features, including:
- Solar panels on the roof to heat water
- A rainwater harvesting system to supply water to toilets
- A rooftop garden that provides extra insulation
- Wind power that generates the hotel’s electricity
- Recycled glass windows
- Furnishings made entirely from recycled materials
- Household waste used to provide heat and power
- Natural lava stone signage
- Low-emission paint
