Harrah's Entertainment has earned the Environmental Quality Award from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) Region Two for its four Atlantic City properties. The gaming operator is the first to receive the award, which honors individuals and organizations that have contributed significantly to improving the environment.
Harrah's eco-friendly efforts at Bally's, Caesars, Harrah’s, and Showboat encompass energy-efficient lighting, nontoxic cleaners, and more efficient boilers, chillers, and air handlers. The properties have eliminated the equivalent of more than 94 pounds of carbon dioxide annually. Harrah's also recycles 50,000 gallons of cooking oil waste each year from its kitchen and has eliminated more than 1 million polystyrene beverage cups.
