Starwood Vacation Ownership (SVO) is planning its third resort in Maui by the fall of 2011. Working with the design and engineering firm Arup, SVO will develop the beachfront property to LEED standards.
The 390-unit resort will build and operate its own desalination and heat exchange system, which will be used to create drinking water and cool the building. A cogeneration system will provide most of the property's electricity and hot water needs.
