U.S. business travelers are doing their part to be more environmentally friendly while seeking hotels that do the same, according to a survey commissioned by Deloitte.
The survey's findings include:
- 69 percent of business travelers always turn off the lights and 31 percent adjust the temperature when they leave the room
- 34 percent seek out environmentally friendly hotels
- 38 percent have conducted research or relied on word of mouth for green lodging facilities
- 28 percent say they would be willing to pay 10 percent more to stay in a green hotel
- 71 percent say the lodging industry is only "somewhat" green
