The Hilton Vancouver, Washington has received Green Seal certification. Three years ago the property earned LEED certification, making it the only hotel in the world to achieve both standards.
In addition to low-flow plumbing fixtures and water-efficiently landscaping, the hotel composts or donates excess food, keeping more than 200,000 pounds of compostable material out of landfills every year. The Hilton Vancouver also has recycled more than 28,000 pounds of cardboard in the past seven months. Furthermore, the hotel runs on 30 percent less energy than local codes require, thanks to sensors that turn off heating and cooling systems in empty rooms, meeting spaces, and hallways.
