Xanterra Parks & Resorts has constructed a massive solar photovoltaic (PV) system in Death Valley. The system, which covers five acres of the national park, is expected to generate more than one-third of the annual electricity needs for Furnace Creek Inn and Ranch Resort, Furnace Creek Golf Course, employee offices, and housing.
Over the next 30 years, the solar PV system will eliminate the emission of 29,000 tons of CO2, nitrogen oxide, and sulfur dioxide. The system, fully owned by Xanterra, will produce more than 2 million kilowatt-hours per year of renewable energy.
