Hilton Hotels Corporation has delineated its global sustainability strategy. By 2014, the hotelier wants to reduce energy consumption from direct operations, CO2 emissions, and waste output by 20 percent. Hilton also plans to reduce its water consumption by 10 percent.
In the long term, the hotelier plans to focus on sustainable design and construction, operations, chemical management, and purchasing. Hilton also will explore renewable energy options for its hotels. Furthermore, the company plans to educate staff about its green goals; measure and report on progress; revise operational, design, and construction standards for all brands; and evaluate purchasing processes.
